The Liberty County Jail is located at 180 Paul Sikes Drive.  It is a 39.41 acre complex consisting of the Jail proper, two Training Facilities, K-9 Kennels and a Firing Range.  The Georgia State Patrol and the Department of Driver Services facility are also located on this complex.   Our facility houses inmates not only for our department but the Hinesville Police Department, the Midway Police Department and the Walthourville Police Department and any county that requests our assistance.  We are also contracted with Fort Stewart and the U.S.  Marshal’s to house federal inmates.

The Jail Facility employs 58 County personnel, 3 Kitchen contractors and 9 Medical contractors.  Our facility consist of 305 inmate beds in 17 separate indirect  housing bays, 2 special housing cells, 4 medical cells and 4 solitary confinement cells.  We have an on-site kitchen that provides two hot meals and one cold meal a day to the inmates.  Our laundry facility cleans and maintains all the uniforms and bedding for the inmates on-site.  In order to keep the cost of running our facility down, we utilize inmate labor or “trustee’s” to assist with the preparation, cooking and cleanup of all inmate meals.  Other “trustee’s” are used to clean and maintain the facility and to assist in the laundry.

Sheriff Steve Sikes is committed to providing a safe and secure facility to insure the safety of the citizens of Liberty County by maintaining the custody, control and care of those incarcerated in a constitutional manner, and providing a safe, stable work environment for staff.
